Giuseppina De Vecchi
Licensed tour guide in Venice
For me, discovering a place is first and foremost an emotional experience. Venice is a unique combination of culture, beauty and mystery, and when I meet visitors who want to understand it more deeply, I try to interpret their interests and guide them towards a more personal vision of the city.
My background
Being a tour guide is both my profession and my vocation. The idea began when one of my teachers suggested that this could be the right path for me, provided I was ready to study art, history and Italy’s cultural heritage seriously. That advice encouraged me to study foreign languages as a way to connect with different cultures and traditions.
An important chapter in my professional life was teaching Spanish language and culture in public schools. That experience strengthened my belief that language is a bridge between people and helped shape the way I now accompany visitors through Venice.
What I suggest
I believe communication becomes more meaningful when it involves emotions and direct experience. This is why I like to create itineraries that engage the senses: food, textures, materials and small details can all help reconstruct the atmosphere of past worlds and make the city easier to understand and remember.
